Gelsenkirchen (AP) – Bundesliga relegated FC Schalke 04 apparently does not want to extend all expiring contracts with its players, with a few exceptions. As the specialist magazine “Kicker” reports, more than ten players are affected by the measure.
The ending contracts of Nabil Bentaleb, Michael Langer, Shkodran Mustafi, Alessandro Schöpf and Steven Skrzybski will not be renewed. The same applies to Bastian Oczipka and Benjamin Stambouli, who only have contracts for the Bundesliga. The loan players Goncalo Paciencia, Frederik Rönnow, Kilian Ludewig and William should leave the club again. Further collaboration is only conceivable with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Sead Kolasinac.
“Peter Knäbel (Sports Director) told me in an open and honest conversation that Schalke want to use the situation for the greatest possible change and that my contract will therefore not be extended,” said Skrzybski to the “kicker”.
