Kia will not sell the new Optima in Europe, betting on Sorento – Motor

In a conversation with Autovisie in the Netherlands, Emilio Herrera emphasized that Kia was considering selling the new Optima in Europe, but Korean marketers felt that German premium brands dominated the highly competitive D-class sedan segment.

According to Kia, the current “fourth” Optima sold well only in Poland and Sweden, and in the Scandinavian country wagons were in demand, which would not be in the fifth generation. Market analysis has led to the conclusion that selling a new sedan in Europe is not economically feasible, said Kia Motors Europe boss.

Having abandoned Optima, Kia plans to bet on the fourth-generation Sorento – the seven-seater crossover will remain the all-terrain flagship of the Korean company in the European market. Those who prefer passenger cars can pay attention to the Stinger.
