The new Kia Niro replaced the original model after five years of existence, it appeared to the world at its online premiere in November last year. Initially, however, the South Korean carmaker was relatively austere in terms of details. The only thing known was the fact that the car, like its original version, would only arrive in an electrified or purely electric version.

Kia has only released more detailed information now, almost two months after its premiere, and only to the basic hybrid version, which will offer the very beginning of the offer. The basis of the electrified SUV is a four-cylinder 1.6-liter GDI engine with the Smartstream system. An electric motor is then connected to it, thanks to which the hybrid will provide a combined output of 141 horsepower.

The entire powertrain, which Kia has improved its cooling system, is exclusively linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia did not disclose the other information, so we will have to wait for the car’s dynamic properties.

The electrified crossover increased intergenerationally to dimensions of 4420 mm in length, 1825 in width and 1545 in height. Among other things, the car is equipped with a system that can detect green zones in the city and automatically shut down the internal combustion engine in them. The novelty will hit the Czech market in January and will be followed by its plug-in hybrid and electric versions.
