Thiruvananthapuram: Elections to the Assembly in five states, including Kerala, are likely to be declared in February. Elections will be held in the states where the term expires in March-April. The final decision will be taken after the Central Election Commission’s monitoring team visits Kerala. The team is currently visiting West Bengal.
The team will reach Kerala by the end of January. Assembly elections are likely to be held in a single phase. Elections are expected to be declared by mid-February, with the polls expected to be completed by April 30. The Code of Conduct will come into force in the State from the date of its declaration.
Political parties will have the opportunity to meet with Central Election Commission representatives arriving in the state. All concerns and objections can then be reported. Earlier, it was announced that the central team would reach Kerala by January 20 and 21. But his visit to the state was postponed due to his visit to Bengal.
