Kepa has sent a clear message to Chelsea about his intention to continue at Real Madrid beyond a one-season loan.
“I really hope Real Madrid keep me at the end of the season,” Kepa said during his first interview with Real Madrid.
“I am very happy to be here today. What happened in the past (2018) is over. Thank you all again.
“I spoke with Courtois. I send him a lot of strength and I hope he comes back soon.
“This is a moment of pride for me. This club is legendary. I have grown up watching Iker Casillas. He is one of my idols,” added the Basque goalkeeper.
Real Madrid will pay 1 million euros to Chelsea to keep Kepa for the rest of the season. The deal does not include a mandatory purchase option, meaning the player will return to Chelsea in 2024.
However, Real Madrid could decide to sign Kepa permanently if he does well between the sticks this season.
