Hensley stood at the birth of Uriah Heep, who were famous in the 1970s. In February 1970, he became a member of the band Spice, in which he played guitar Mick Box and sang David Byron. She soon changed her name to Uriah Heep and released her debut album …Very ´Eavy …Very ´Umble, where the Hensley organ played an important role.

Hensley was the author of her greatest hit Easy Livin’ from the album Demons And Wizards, which has reached the rankings in a number of European countries and in the USA. On the cover of the original release of the album, Hensley claimed to have written it Lady In Black inspired by a real incident when he was depressed by the pastor’s daughter, and the meeting eventually gave birth to a text about the fact that evil cannot be defeated by evil. However, he later stated in an interview that he had never met the girl who inspired him, he could only see her through the window of the hotel room.

Hensley recorded thirteen studio albums with Uriah Heep between 1970 and 1980. The last was Conquest, which came out at a time when the band’s fame was declining, peaked in the first half of the 1970s, when David Byron sang in it.

Hensley then moved to the United States, where he joined Blackfoot. After a five-year hiatus, he participated in the album in 1989 The Headless Children from WASP and then recorded and recorded with Cinderella. In the new millennium, he performed several times in the Czech Republic, mostly with the group Live Fire.

Former drummer Uriah Heep Lee Kerslake, who succumbed to prostate cancer at the age of 73, also recently died.
