Ken Follett, conquered by this Spanish city so little known by international tourists | People

It is neither Seville, nor Madrid, nor Barcelona or Palma de Mallorca. The British writer Ken Follett has surprised all his followers on social accounts by visiting an area of Spain that is not usually very crowded by international tourists, and from what he has commented, it seems that he has conquered him.

Who wrote the bestseller ‘The pillars of the Earth’ has chosen Trujillo, a town in Cáceres, in Extremadura, to enjoy his holidays with his family, and has shared with his network followers some photographs of some of the most outstanding enclaves in the area. And it is that Extremadura has nothing to envy other communities, but it is true that some are more internationally recognized than this one.

Trujillo Castle and Santa María la Mayor, the highlight of your trip

The Muslim fortress of Trujillo Castle, dating from the 10th century and the altarpiece of Santa María la Mayor conquered Follett, who has uploaded a photograph of both. The latter was accompanied by the qualifier “magnificent”. And the Spanish followers of his account, and, even more, those of Cáceres, showed their pride in the charm that he had produced in the writer, to whom they recommended some of the most beautiful places in the region.

Although the writer has not revealed the reason that has motivated him to travel to this hidden gem of Spain, it is true that Cáceres has been in recent months one of the cities chosen by some international media for their lists of recommendations for this summer. The magazine ‘Time’ chose Cáceres, Madrid and Santiago de Compostela as one of the best in the world to visit.
