Kemper rams. David Jackson’s moving farewell to the Quimper public – Béliers de Kemper

A standing room, a moved player, poignant farewells. After almost three seasons in the jersey of Béliers de Kemper, David Jackson said goodbye to the club and to the Quimper public. His back injury which spread to his leg and ankle made him make the decision to stop his career, he who had been arrested since the end of December.

“I tried to come back”

“I tried to come back in January and February. I did the job. Everything was fine when I was running and jumping. But as soon as I started to play again, a big pain reappeared. It was a very difficult decision to make with myself. On the one hand, I didn’t want to leave the team like that and I still wanted to play and challenge. On the other, my body was telling me it was time. Today is a new journey that begins for me. »

David Jackson will quickly join his wife and second young son in Poland. “In life, there are three important things: God, work and family. Working through basketball has been my priority. There I will be able to devote myself to my family in Poland where I will have an opportunity to train, because that is what I plan to do. I want to give back to basketball what it has given me, to pass on my knowledge. »

“I would love to come back as a coach”

Under the jersey of Béliers de Kemper, where he was a dominant player during these first two seasons, one of the club’s best foreigners, David Jackson remembers in particular a “buzzer beater” against Aix-Maurienne and “all those moments shared with the public. »

“Quimper will always have a special place in my heart. When I signed, I was told: you’re crazy to go there, it’s not a good place, it’s far from everything, the weather isn’t nice. But I loved my time here, the city, the fans, the club, the weather and it’s ultimately one of the best places I’ve played in my career. I would love to come back and coach here in a few years…”
