Keidanren’s Evaluation of Major Political Parties’ Policies and Call for Donations to Liberal Democratic Party

On the 10th, the Japan Federation of Economic Organizations (Keidanren) announced an evaluation of major political parties’ policies, which serve as criteria for determining political donations. He praised the ruling party, led by the Liberal Democratic Party, for the 10th consecutive year and called on member companies to donate to the party, while once again calling on the party to consider raising the consumption tax to raise funds for measures to combat the declining birthrate.

The ruling party’s policy evaluation states, “In addition to overcoming deflation and revitalizing the economy, we are committed to coordinating the G7 Hiroshima Summit (G7 summit of developed countries), improving Japan-Korea relations, and proactive foreign and security policies.” It can be developed and highly evaluated.”

On the other hand, the Liberal Democratic Party’s agenda includes balancing economic growth and fiscal soundness, as well as “considering the form of financial resources that should be broadly borne by the entire nation in child-rearing policies.” While Prime Minister Fumio Kishida denies raising taxes, the government appears to be strongly calling for an increase in the consumption tax.

Regarding the ruling Komeito Party, the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, the Japan Restoration Party, and the Democratic Party of the People, he simply enumerated the policies they advocated and effectively called for donations to the Liberal Democratic Party.

At a press conference on the same day, Chairman Masakazu Tokura stated his opinion, “A reasonable amount of cost is essential to maintaining democratic politics, and political donations by corporations are important as part of their social contribution.” (Yasu Kuhara)
