Deputy Public Prosecutor Andre Ong said the defendant had invited the 14-year-old girl to his house 17 times over three months and they had sex twice a week.
The court heard testimony that the girl did not contract HIV.
The sentence was handed down against the 41-year-old man on Monday (12/13/2021). He pleaded guilty to 11 counts, including multiple counts of having sex with a minor as well as offenses under the Infectious Diseases Act.
Twenty-five other charges were considered during sentencing.
The defendant and the girl, who were identified as victims, cannot be named due to a gag order by the court to protect their identities.
The man was diagnosed with HIV infection in July 2011 and given counseling the following month.
