Lel and Volkov 48-year-old singer Katya Lel (real name Chuprinina) made a statement that in the 1990s she miraculously escaped drug and alcohol addiction.

Catherine also revealed that her then-married lover and first producer, restaurateur Alexander Volkov (nicknamed Sasha Zhopa), used illegal substances:
– I saved from addiction a person who was twice my age and who was dear to me. He – dabbled … Then he said about me: “Katya saved me.”
Volkov, who was known as a crime boss, produced Lel until the mid-2000s. The gap between the singer and the producer was associated with a series of scandals. Volkov did not want to let Lel out of his life, declared war on her and tried to forbid her from performing under a pseudonym that everyone knew. And in 2008, Alexander died in Berlin from cancer. In the same year, Katya married a businessman, a handsome man close to Anatoly Sobchak, Igor Kuznetsov, from whom she gave birth to a daughter, Emilia.
