According to the organizers, “Delfi” will give a concert program “7 stars of sadness” in Sigulda, dedicated to the music of the outstanding composer Imants Kalniņš
“Imants Kalniņš’s music is so beautiful, unusual, heartfelt and fulfilled. The concert program includes only a small part of the singer’s favorite songs of Imants Kalniņš, because it is much more than the possible volume of the concert. All compositions performed by Katrīna Gupalo for voice and piano, “created with great respect for the composer ‘s original versions of songs,” the organizers write.
The program includes compositions for film and theater performances created by Imants Kalniņš, songs in English and many others, among which there are songs that are very popular, but not played so often. The concert will feature “Dūdieviņš”, “Acacia Sheet”, “Tin Soldiers”, “Butterfly Velvet Smell”, “They Danced One Summer”, “Cuckoo’s Voice” and others. Kalniņš’s songs will be played alongside Katrīna Gupalo’s own music and in a way will interact and talk to it.
DJ GarJānis will perform in the evening program from 8 pm, but Katrīna Gupalo and Oriole will perform at 8.30 pm
Admission to the concert is free from 7.30 pm. Only visitors who have completed a full course of vaccination and presenting a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate will be able to stay in the territory of the castle quarter.
