On Sunday he was in London and commented on Arsenal-Manchester City. Tomorrow, Viaplay commentator Kasper Wikestad (47) will be admitted to Rikshospitalet in Oslo for surgery. He expects to be away from the screen for just under a month.

In 2020, Wikestad was operated on for bowel and kidney cancer, and he was under anesthesia for 60 hours. This time it is the liver that has been attacked – by Metastasis, a kind of “daughter tumour”.

Great Norwegian Lexicon:

“Metastasis is a spread from a cancerous tumor to other parts of the body. Spread is typical for cancers, but the ability to spread and the pattern of spread varies between the types of cancer.”

– It has been a difficult autumn, because I have known that something has been wrong, but not what, admits Wikestad, after neither CT, liver CT nor liver MRI gave any answers this autumn. But now the mystery has been solved, and Wikestad is, after all, happy that he finally got an answer – and that the operation is being carried out as quickly as it is now.

After the cancer operation in 2020, he goes for a routine CT check once a year. It was there that it was discovered that “something was wrong”.

– The doctors have said that they will “take a small piece of cake out of the liver” on Tuesday, and that the prognosis for recovery is good, says Kasper Wikestad.

In 2020, what Wikestad calls “drama and complicated” was what he went through. This operation should be much easier.

Kasper Wikestad has commented on English football, first on TV 2 and now for Viaplay, for a number of years. On Sunday, he commented on the top game in the Premier League between Arsenal and Manchester City in London.

It will be his last job before sick leave.

– I hope and believe that, after being on sick leave for about a month, I will be ready to comment again at the beginning of November, says Kasper Wikestad.

He is not going to make any further comments before the operation.
