It has been in the air – but now it’s ready.

Norwegian Karsten Warholm sets a world record in the 400 meter hurdles at home in Oslo.

46.70 the clock stopped.

– It is completely insane, says Alhaji Jeng in SVT’s broadcast.

29 years. So long ago, the American Kevin Young ran 46.78 at the Olympics in Barcelona and became the world record holder in the 400 meter hurdles.

Now the branch has a new king. He is Norwegian and his name is Karsten Warholm. At tonight’s Diamond League gala in Oslo, he ran in at 46.70, breaking the world record by eight hundredths.

– That he goes in and beats it in the first race of the season. It is absolutely incredible, says a lyrical Alhaji Jeng in SVT’s broadcast.

The last time a European named Karsten Warholm ran under 47.37 was in 1995. Now the Norwegian has done it for the second time, breaking a world record and this in his first competition of the season.

– It is completely insane, says Jeng in SVT.

The men’s 400 meter hurdles ended the evening at Biselett in Oslo. Warholm moose through the field in front of a wild Norwegian audience.

Together with Armand Duplantis, Warholm is the only Nordic world record holder right now. It remains that the two can polish to their records this summer.
