Karpe song was removed shortly after it came out. But that could be a good sign.

The song BigPapaGoat_v4_4130422.wav “mysteriously” disappeared the same day it was released. But we will probably hear it again soon, in connection with a new “master plan”.

Without warning, Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid and Chirag Rashmikant Patel in the rap group Karpe released a new song. Shortly after, it was removed from all streaming services.

On Friday 29 July, Karpe released a new song in collaboration with rapper Jonas Benyoub. The song with the creative title “BigPapaGoat_v4_4130422.wav” also came in a separate instrumental version.

The rap group has been around since 2000, and can show off five albums and seven Spellemann awards.

Karpe surprised fans with the sudden release. The song opened with the repetitive stanzas “Who said to you, Who said to you, Who said to you”.

But the joy was short-lived.

A few hours later the same day, the song was removed from Karpe’s Spotify profile. The song is also not to be found on the artist’s YouTube channel or the music app Tidal.

To someone who asks for the song on Twitter, Chirag replies:Mike got a new idea/plan. He asks

– It was a song we did in the studio when Mike was about to become a father. He wanted to release it. We said yes. But he got some other ideas about practicing in the spectrum now.

Chirag writes this in an SMS to Aftenposten.

New songs before spectrum

Michael “Mike” Ray Vera Cruz Angeles has worked as a photographer for Karpe for ten years. He has been referred to as their “third member”.

Over the phone, he tells Aftenposten that he works as a jack of all trades, and contributes with, among other things, stage work, designing products with the artist’s logo, and giving input to the music.

He has just become a father, and says that the time was perfect to release the song.

– I said: If you don’t post it, I will!

But shortly after the song had come out, he heard Karpe experimenting live at a rehearsal in Spektrum.

Then he had a revelation. Another idea he believes fans will dig even more.

– I felt it was best to withdraw the song, in order to complete that master plan as quickly as possible, so that they could add the song I listened to in rehearsal. They incubate a lot of things.

– When will we hear these songs?

– It will be before spectrum, if everything goes according to plan. I just have to get permission from them, he says and laughs.

On his own youtube channel, Angeles has shared one videowhere you hear parts of the song that were removed at the end.

“Karpe SAS Spektrum x10” starts on Saturday 6 August. During August, Karpe will occupy Oslo Spektrum a total of ten times.

Michael “Mike” Ray Vera Cruz Angeles works closely with the boys in the rap duo Karpe. The song BigPapaGoat_v4_4130422.wav is about when he was about to become a father himself.

Hinter on Instagram

“Anyone else who has seen that Karpe posted a song and removed it?” writes one in the comment field on the rap group’s latest Instagram post. “Post the song on Apple music,” writes another.

Karpe has given some small hints on their Instagram story. There they have shared some messages they have received on Instagram from people begging to hear the song. It may seem like some people get it too.

They have sent a Dropbox link to the first person. Only half of the link is visible in the story. The next story is a screenshot of someone begging to be sent the same link.

It’s not the first time Karpe has left fans with big question marks when they release new music.

In January, the EP “Omar Sherrif” came out. Before the songs could be streamed, they were only available on a website title of the same name. There you had access to an hour-long film that went on loop. It was not possible to fast forward and rewind. The release also came completely without warning to the fans.
