“Karnataka Oath-Taking Ceremony: Siddaramaiah Sworn In as CM, Controversy over Kerala Chief Minister’s Absence”

Bengaluru: Siddaramaiah will be sworn in as Karnataka Chief Minister and DK Shivakumar as Deputy Chief Minister tomorrow. All 25 ministers will take charge tomorrow. The Congress is trying to make the oath-taking ceremony a rallying point for the opposition parties. However, the CPM came out to criticize the Congress for not inviting Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to the swearing-in ceremony of the Karnataka Cabinet. LDF convener accused Prakash Karat of narrow stance and immature decision. Opposition Leader VD Satheesan’s response was that CPM General Secretary has an invitation.

The slogan raised by the anti-BJP parties after Congress’ victory in Karnataka is the relief that BJP-free South India has become a reality. Kerala and Telangana Chief Ministers have not been invited to the oath-taking ceremony, despite the hopes of the Congress including the CPM. CPM politburo member Prakash Karat said that the Congress should understand the fact that it cannot fight and defeat the BJP alone and should adopt a stance of uniting the secular parties. LDF convener EP Jayarajan accused the Congress of becoming a weak party that could not properly assess national politics. If this is the approach, let’s see how long the Karnataka government will last,” Jayarajan joked.
