Kaohsiung Zuoying had power outage 3 times in 3 days. Acting Chairman: The backup line happened to be under maintenance and no power was sent.

Kaohsiung’s Zuoying District has experienced three power outages in three days since the 19th, with a total of nearly 10,000 households experiencing power outages. The High Speed Rail Zuoying Station and the Taiwan Railway’s New Zuoying Station were all affected, causing public complaints. Mayor Chen Chi-mai also said that Taipower should be very inappropriate and should conduct systematic inspections. “Kaohsiung citizens cannot accept repeated power outages.” Taipower Acting Chairman Tsang Wensheng explained today that Taipower has recently been updating cables. Yesterday, the power supply was not transmitted due to maintenance of the national substation’s backup line, and the power transmission line was faulty and could not transfer power.

As for the power outage in Nanzi District, Kaohsiung City at about 10:30 this morning, Taipower stated that the cause of the power outage was that the electromechanical and electrical personnel of the elementary school at the Oil Factory in Nanzi District, Kaohsiung City, operated the Taipower switch box without authorization and did not open the door while maintaining the school’s electrical equipment. It was closed properly, causing foreign objects to come into contact with internal equipment, causing a power outage. All power was restored at 11:12 am.

Kaohsiung’s Zuoying District has had three power outages in three days since the 19th, with a total of nearly 10,000 households experiencing power outages. Tsang Wensheng, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Acting Chairman of Taipower, went south to Kaohsiung this morning to attend the opening ceremony of the “TASS 2023 Asia Sustainable Supply + Circular Economy Conference and Exhibition”. After the meeting, he accepted a joint interview with the media and pointed out that Taipower has been continuing to change lines recently, but there are One of the backup lines of Minzu Substation happened to be undergoing maintenance yesterday and did not send power. The other line was unable to transfer power in time due to deterioration. The power outage lasted for a long time, more than an hour. Taipower is very sorry for this.

An unexpected power outage occurred in Zuoying District, Kaohsiung City at around 12:00 noon on the 19th, causing a power outage to 4,687 households. After more than 6 hours of repairs, power was restored to all households. Tsang Wensheng said that Taipower has a double-circuit design in urban areas, which means that if there is a local power equipment failure, another line will be responsible for transmitting power. But yesterday, because Taipower was replacing old power equipment, the backup line happened to have a power outage. , so this situation occurred.

Zeng Wensheng said that the area from Zuoying High-speed Railway Station to the Arena is a rapidly developing area in North Kaohsiung. The local infrastructure has been in construction for about 20 years and is almost ready for replacement. During this period, Taipower continued to carry out planned power outages and line replacement work. We will explain to the Kaohsiung City Government and local village chiefs, and we hope that citizens can support and understand the temporary inconvenience and allow Taipower to speed up the replacement of old line equipment.

Taipower released a message explaining that in the past six months, 57 planned power outages have been arranged in the region to carry out line equipment renewal work. During the power outage construction period, in order to ensure the safety of Taipower colleagues’ operations and equipment, affected users will be notified in advance before construction and communication will be strengthened. . Taipower pointed out that the two power outages on the 19th and 21st were due to underground high-voltage cable faults, but the faults occurred in different locations. When a cable failure occurred recently, the backup feeder for the faulty line was the Minzu Substation line. However, the Minzu Substation was undergoing regular equipment maintenance work and the relevant lines were cooperating with the power outage. As a result, after the power outage occurred, other lines had to be used. The small-scale transfer of supply one by one will affect the length of repair time. Taipower has coordinated company-wide resources and deployed additional maintenance manpower to speed up the maintenance of substation equipment and reduce power supply risks.

Taipower stated that it has planned a special inspection plan for important lines that have experienced recent failures in the Zuoying area. The inspection will be completed within one month so that abnormal equipment can be detected early and immediately dealt with and improved. In addition, it will continue to accelerate the inspection of the lines. Equipment maintenance inspection and equipment replacement progress to reduce the occurrence of power outages without warning.

In addition, at 10:20 a.m. yesterday, voltage abnormalities occurred due to equipment problems at Pingshan Substation, affecting high-voltage users such as the High-Speed Rail Zuoying Station, the Taiwan Railway’s New Zuoying Station, and the Hanshen Arena Shopping Plaza. Although Taipower lines maintained normal power supply, However, the user’s overvoltage protection action caused an internal power trip. Taipower has immediately adjusted the voltage to the normal range, assisted users in checking that their own equipment is normal, and gradually restored normal power supply.

Taipower will continue to discuss improvements with users such as stations and department stores who have higher requirements for power quality, and will assist users in setting up protection mechanisms such as voltage stabilization or uninterruptible power supply systems according to their needs to jointly strengthen the stability of power consumption.
