In the gruesome “Eazy” video, Davidson is kidnapped, tied up and placed alive in a coffin. The comedian, known from sketch show ‘Saturday Night Live’, is also mentioned in the lyrics. “God saved me after my car accident so I could beat up Pete Davidson,” West raps, referring to a 2002 incident that nearly killed him.

The reactions on social media are not kind. “This clip is very disturbing,” wrote one fan. “Pete should sue the rapper and demand a restraining order.” “This is really embarrassing,” said another. “Anyone who thinks this is great doesn’t care about Ye’s mental health. He is clearly not well.” Another follower adds: “This isn’t art, it’s emotional abuse. Kanye terrorizes Kim in this way. He wants to punish her because she has a new relationship.”

It is the umpteenth time that the rapper, who nowadays goes through life as Ye, rages against Davidson. West posted numerous angry messages and threats against the comedian on social media, but later deleted all posts.

Officially single
The music video for ‘Eazy’ was released on Wednesday, the same day that the judge officially declared Kardashian single at her own request. The divorce between the two is thus final. Other matters – such as the division of property and custody of their four children – still have to be arranged. The reality star, who has also had the ‘West’ deleted from her last name Kardashian-West, filed for divorce a year ago after being married for almost seven years. West has since said several times that he wants her back.

Wednesday’s court hearing – which Kim attended via video link – was quite eventful. Judge Steve Cochran, who is known in America as a colorful figure, had her answer a series of questions under oath in order to make the divorce final. “We are here for the children. They are 2, 4, 6 and 8 years old,” he said. “Is everyone okay?” Kardashian nodded. The judge: “Do you shower them with affection?” Kardashian, firmly: “Absolutely.” The judge asked, among other things, whether “the marriage had broken down due to problems, disagreements and differences of opinion” and whether “it is your wish to have the status of bachelor”. Kardashian answered the questions one by one, without a doubt, with “yes”, to which the judge declared her bachelor.
Meanwhile, Ye was assisted by Samantha Spector, his fourth lawyer. He had fired his third less than 24 hours before the hearing. Kardashian’s lawyer had accused the rapper that it was a tactic to slow things down, but in the end it didn’t seem like that. Spector did not ask the judge to postpone the case. The rapper also seemed to be less bothersome than expected. “Mr. West has no problem going through with the divorce,” said attorney Spector. There were only some “technical issues” she wanted to discuss, including around the pension Kardashian has accrued so far.

Striking: According to Spector, Ye also wants him to have the right to question Kardashian’s new husband under oath, if his ex wants to marry again. The judge immediately brushed that idea off the table. “Has there ever been a case where that was promised?” the judge asked Ye’s lawyer. Spector had to admit she couldn’t think of an example.

Paperwork
Cochran twice sent the lawyers into the hallway to smooth out any disagreements between them. Some paperwork also had to be arranged: the rapper recently officially went through life as Ye, but his old name, Kanye West, was still mentioned in the divorce papers. After that, the judge could make the divorce official. In America, the court can declare someone ‘single’ before the registry office in a complicated divorce case, while more complicated matters such as custody and the division of property are still being fought out. If the two former lovers do not come to an agreement, there will be court hearings.

Cochran concluded at the end happy that things had finally moved on, after nothing had happened for months around the divorce. “We’ve made a lot of progress today,” the judge told reality star Kardashian. “We are going like a European train: fast and on time.”
