Kannur Temple Trust’s Response to Minister Radhakrishnan’s Caste Discrimination Claim

Kannur: The Payyannur Nambiathara Shiva Temple Trust responded to Minister Radhakrishnan’s revelation that he had faced caste discrimination. The trust said that if there is any lapse on the part of the organisers, it will be rectified and the lapse will be rectified as per the instructions from the Devaswom Board. The decision was taken at the meeting of the Trust members held yesterday. The minister had said that the interpretation was met during the ceremony held in the temple last January.

The Yoga Khemsa Sabha had responded that the minister’s revelation that he had faced caste discrimination was untrue. There is no caste discrimination, only ritualistic things are going on in the temple. Yog Khemsa Sabha state president Akiraman Kalidasan Bhattathiripad alleged that the old incident is being brought up to hide many other controversies. I thought the minister was mature. Pooja has a rule. There is no caste or religion in it. He should have known a little more about all this when he became a Devaswom minister. The truth is that there is no caste discrimination today. His response was that he suspects that all this is to create some news.

At the same time, Radhakrishnan said that Dalit hunting is increasing in the country and if it is not questioned, it will extend to Kerala as well. “There are people who want to bring back what was destroyed. It is said that it will not be allowed. If you don’t touch anyone till the end of Devpuja, why did you come out? So why not do a full cleanse? Radhakrishnan asked.
