A lot has happened in the FC Bayern squad. As a result of the sale of Robert Lewandowski, the hot transfer phase in Munich could now be heralded.

Munich – Robert Lewandowski is history at Bayern Munich – after having previously written numerous chapters of success. The Reds will have a lot of good memories and a big chunk of money. The 33-year-old is said to be worth up to 50 million euros to FC Barcelona. In addition, the Munich save his annual salary, which is said to have been more than 20 million euros.

Now not only football Germany is asking how FC Bayern will react to the departure of their most successful goalscorer since the legendary Gerd Müller. It is undisputed that immediate aid as a replacement would by no means be cheap. But currently the squad full of stars with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting is only a typical center forward of international format.

FC Bayern after Lewandowski: Is Ronaldo or Kane coming?

In the past few days, two absolute world stars have been associated with FC Bayern. Harry Kane, who continues to chase titles at Tottenham Hotspur in vain. And Cristiano Ronaldo, who apparently wants to break up his tents at Manchester United immediately.

The question is how realistic such transfers are. If FC Bayern were to treat themselves to “CR7”, the club would certainly make headlines around the world. Likewise, millions of new fans who move from club to club with their idol. And a player whose name exudes glitz and glamor, but who embodies the prototype of an I-AG even more than Lewandowski.

Ronaldo to Bayern? Kahn doubts the idea – because of the club’s philosophy

In addition, the 37-year-old Portuguese is nearing the end of his career and FC Bayern is not actually known for hiring professionals at such an advanced age. In the picture on sunday Oliver Kahn, like his fellow board member Hasan Salihamidzic, is also refraining from the personnel issue.

“I love Cristiano Ronaldo and everyone knows what a fantastic player he is,” emphasizes the CEO: “But every club has a certain philosophy and I’m not sure if it’s the right signal for Bayern and the Bundesliga would be if we got him now.” To put it bluntly: “Such a change does not necessarily fit with the ideas that we are pursuing here at Bayern.”

Kane to Bayern? Kahn speaks of “future music”

Kahn also commented on Kane. The English goalscorer will soon be celebrating his 29th birthday, so he would be in his prime as a footballer. In addition, despite his qualities, he is considered a professional who is free from airs and graces. Which is also shown by the fact that he is still loyal to his hometown club.

Kahn sounds more open here, but in view of a contract that runs until 2024, probably only with a view to the coming years: “Sure, an absolute top striker, but that’s all pie in the sky. Now we have to look to get the squad together for the current season.”

Kahn on possible Bayern arrivals: “De Ligt is a very, very interesting player”

Good cue. Because other names are traded as potential additions. About Konrad Laimer from RB Leipzig, who, like Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer, could follow his ex-coach Julian Nagelsmann. “We are here in exchange and continue to talk to each other,” Kahn lets know succinctly.

Discussions should also take place regarding Mathijs de Ligt with Juventus Turin. Kahn also confirms this as “correct” and adds: “De Ligt is a very, very interesting player, also in terms of his mentality. Now we have to see how the whole thing develops.”

Kahn on FC Bayern 2022/2023: CEO wants to “keep the squad balanced”

Then there’s Mathys Tel, a 17-year-old Stade Rennes forward. The France Under-18 international made seven brief appearances in Ligue 1 last season. Kahn describes the teenager as “an incredible talent but we’re very relaxed”. In general, FC Bayern would continue to monitor the market and make sure “to keep the squad balanced. Of course, this also includes players who can still develop if older players take them by the hand.

Lewandowski would no longer be able to play this role. But despite Kahn’s negative attitude towards Ronaldo and a timely Kane transfer, he does not rule out getting a replacement for number nine: “If an opportunity arises, we will be there.”

Kahn on Lewandowski replacement: “Our offensive is already outstanding”

The former world-class keeper thinks: “The current transfer period shows that FC Bayern is a highly attractive club for Europe’s top players.” A reference to the transfers made by Sadio Mané, Ryan Gravenberch and Noussair Mazraoui. The Senegalese brought in from Liverpool gives the team even more flexibility in attack.

That’s why Kahn doesn’t see the club under any pressure: “However, our offensive is already outstanding and our coach Julian Nagelsmann has a large repertoire to keep our attacking game at the highest level.”

It cannot be ruled out that this sentence is to be understood more as a tactical statement. Just like Kahn’s “Basta” announcement weeks ago regarding a Lewandowski sale. Back then it was all about driving the price up. This time it could be his aim to reduce possible transfer fees from the outset.

It remains to be seen with which prominent faces FC Bayern will open its first chapter after Lewandowski’s time. (mg)
