Juventus vs Monza: Week 14 Italian League Match Recap and Analysis

Monza

Juventus beat Monza 2-1 in Week 14 of the Italian League this season. An additional three points brought Massimiliano Allegri’s team to the top of the standings.

Competing at the Brianteo Stadium, Saturday (2/12/2023) early morning WIB, Juventus received a penalty in the 8th minute after Giorgos Kyriakopoulos pulled Andrea Cambiaso’s shirt in the penalty box. However, Dusan Vlahovic’s shot was blocked by Monza goalkeeper, Michele Di Gregorio.

No need to wait long, Juventus broke into Monza’s goal in the 12th minute. Adrien Rabiot’s header from Hans Nicolussi Caviglia’s corner successfully beat Di Gregorio, changing the score to 1-0.

Federico Chiesa had a chance to increase the lead in the 27th minute, but his long-range shot went over the goal. Federico Gatti also had a chance in the 33rd minute, but his close-range shot went off target.

Rabiot almost scored the second goal in this match, but his long-range shot in the 35th minute was blocked by Di Gregorio. The score 1-0 for Juventus lasted until halftime.

In the second half, Monza tried to appear more pressing. The effort was successful in the 91st minute. Valentin Carboni’s long-range shot went smoothly into the left corner of Wojciech Szczesny’s goal. It was Monza’s first shot on goal against Juventus.

However, the one point that Monza had already held flew two minutes later. Starting from Rabiot’s cross from the right side, Gatti grabbed the ball with a hard shot that Di Gregorio couldn’t block. The score became 2-1 and lasted until the end.

Juventus has now collected 33 points, one point ahead of Inter Milan, who will play against Napoli on Monday morning WIB. Meanwhile, Monza is in ninth place with 18 points.
