Juventus Beats Roma 1-0 to Close in on Inter in Serie A Title Race

Juventus is very serious in the fight for the scudetto with Inter. The Bianconeri beat a difficult rival like Mourinho’s Roma with the sixth 1-0 of their season (and their ninth narrow victory) and are approaching first place for the Nerazzurri, who tied at Genoa and now have only two points ahead with one day left until the end of the first round of Calcio.

The match started out being much more entertaining than expected, with intensity and emotions in both areas. Mourinho recovered Dybala, who started alongside Lukaku, while Allegri decided to bet heavily on Kenan Yildiz after the great goal he scored with Frosinone.

The Giallorossi immediately warned with a powerful shot from Cristante, which hit Vlahovic and the post in the fifth minute. La Vecchia Signora woke up, relying on the attempts of Vlahovic and the arrivals of an unpredictable Yildiz, the Romans touched the goal with one of Dybala’s left-footed shots that brushed the post. It did not seem like a match between Allegri and Mourinho, with two teams open and willing to take risks until the last minute: Ndicka removed a shot from Kostic from the goal line and Kristensen, a minute later, scared the local defense with a neutralized cross by Szczesny.

Juve scored the decisive goal right after returning from the break. In the 47th minute, Rabiot entered the area receiving a through ball with an elegant backheel from Vlahovic and beat Rui Patrício at his post. The goal put the match in the best possible condition for Allegri, who put his eleven back, closing all the spaces, and looked for counterattacks with the speed of Chiesa, who replaced Yildiz.

Mourinho’s men only created danger with a shot from Cristante, while the Turin team, with their transitions, reached close to 2-0 with McKennie (who ran into Rui Patrício) and Chiesa, who had a goal disallowed for offside after a combination with Iling. The scoreboard did not move and the Allegri formula continues to work great: with 43 points in 18 games, the challenge to Inter is launched.
