A situation to be monitored that Juventus would have happily done without living during this summer that promises to be full of changes. Matthijs de Ligt remains two years of the five contract signed in 2019 when Juventus withdrew him from Ajax for € 75 million plus a bonus of € 10.5. And now, somewhat unexpectedly, management has become more complicated than expected.

The starting point is a contract expiring in two years which, in the event of non-extension, would force the Juventus club to sell the Dutch powerhouse at a settlement price in the summer of 2023 to avoid losing a free capital. The priority for Madama, as mentioned, corresponds to an extension of the contract. As always, however, marriages are made in two and at this point a step is expected from the player who however, he does not seem predisposed to meet the policy of cutting wages in Juventus’ ideas.
