Surprising news from Canada: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced his separation from his wife Sophie. More details are now becoming public.

After 18 years of marriage and three children together, everything is over. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 51, and his wife Sophie Trudeau, 48, have announced their separation.

“Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate,” said a statement released by both the 51-year-old and his estranged wife on Wednesday, March 2. Sophie was a childhood friend and classmate of Trudeau’s younger brother, Michel Trudeau, who died in an avalanche in 1998 at the age of 23. Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire tied the knot in May 2005 and are now parents to two sons, Xavier, 15, and Hadrien, 9, and 14-year-old Ella-Grace.
