Justin Bieber has sold the rights to all the songs he’s recorded so far. The new owner is the British investment company Hipgnosis Songs.

According to, among others Variety the deal involved an amount of more than 200 million dollars, which is about 180 million euros. At the end of last month it was already known that the Canadian singer was negotiating with the company, but there was no deal at that time.

The deal with 28-year-old Bieber fits in with a trend of artists relinquishing their music rights for many millions. For example, sold Bruce SpringsteenBob Dylan, Phil Collins (along with his old band Genesis) and Neil Diamond their music rights in recent years.

Hipgnosis Songs previously managed to obtain the rights to, among other things, half of Neil Young’s work (for about $ 150 million) and also has the rights to the songs of Blondie and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. In addition, the company invests in the rights of a (relatively) younger generation of artists, including Bieber, Justin Timberlake and Skrillex.

Bieber was discovered on YouTube and signed his first contract with Island Def Jam at the age of 14. Among other things, he scored hits with What Do You Mean, Sorry in Peaches.

The singer announced last year that he suffered from Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which temporarily paralyzed part of his face. He canceled all planned performances, but later that year he was back on stage a number of times. Bieber then took another break due to fatigue. He was supposed to perform in Amsterdam this month, but those performances were also cancelled.
