Hard blow for opponents of CDG Express. On Thursday April 28, 2022, the Paris Administrative Court of Appeal rejected the appeal against the prefectural decree authorizing the creation of the link between Gare de l’Est and Paris et Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
The judgment of the administrative court of Montreuil canceled
The CDG Express must connect Paris and the airport in 20 minutes, against 45 minutes currently. In November 2020, the administrative court of Montreuil canceled the prefectural decree, considering that it granted a derogation from the environmental code. But in March 2021, the judgment was suspended by the Paris Administrative Court of Appeal.
Finally, it pronounced, this Thursday, the cancellation of the judgment of November 2020. “It considers, contrary to what the administrative court had judged, that the project is justified by an imperative reason of major public interest, allowing derogate from the provisions of article L. 411-1 of the environmental code concerning the protection of animal species”, considers the Court.
Commissioning in 2027
She believes that the airport has experienced “sustained growth for many years” and that its service conditions are “unsuitable” in view of “the saturation of the roads only by the length of the journeys made by line B of the RER” . “However, the project aims to improve the service of the airport by public transport, to decongest the existing network, to strengthen the attractiveness of the Ile-de-France conurbation and to facilitate the interconnection between the different modes of transport”, assures the courtyard.
According to forecasts, the airport should return by 2014-2025 to a level comparable to that prior to 2019. Several times postponed, the commissioning of the CDG Express is now scheduled for 2027. The journey should cost 24 euros .
