On October 8, 2015, Klopp signed a contract with Liverpool and replaced Brendan Rodgers who was fired. The coach led his team in the 2015/16 season to the Europa League final, where his team lost to Sevilla. In the 2017/18 season, the German led the Reds to the Champions League final, but his team lost 3:1 to Real Madrid.
A season later, Klopp again led Liverpool to the Champions League final, with a historic upset over Barcelona in the semi-finals, and this time he won the title for the first time in his career with a 2:0 victory over Tottenham.
