Jurassic World Dominion Coming to a Screen Near You This Summer

The dinosaurs are coming back and will be roaring onto a screen near you later this year.  The trailer has recently landed and sees the star cast of the original movie reunited. Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Sam Neill appear alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. This is going to be the longest film in the franchise with a monster run time of two hours and twenty-three minutes. The movie is set to be released on 10th June 2022, a full year after its original release date was set back due to the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The storyline is that four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar seen in the last film, dinosaurs now live and hunt alongside humans all over the world. In this world, there is a fragile balance that will reshape the future. Once and for all it will be determined whether human beings are going to remain the top predators on the planet now that they share it with these prehistoric most fearsome of creatures. The question the film will ask is that if dinosaurs lived amongst us would we be safe? This film is not about a Godzilla-style monster invading and trashing the cities but it is about predators doing what they do.

It is suspected that Jurassic World 3:Dominion is going to conclude the series that all started back in 1993 with Steven Spielberg’s original film, although our ongoing fascination with all things to do with dinosaurs might see more films in the future. In this film, we are promised a role for the Giganotosaurus.  A recent preview at the IMAX saw this mega dino take out a T-Rex and it is expected that this bad-ass dinosaur will play a significant role in this new movie.

The Jurassic Park franchise has gone from strength to strength. The original film brought to life extinct dinosaurs through scientists manipulating ancient DNA. There were three films in the first Jurassic Park series and then Jurassic World created a new trilogy.  In Jurassic World, the main protagonists continued in their attempt to create a theme park with live dinosaurs with the inevitable horrors and dramas. While there have always been plenty of dinosaur toys and storylines, these films turbo-charged the licensed products market. The only thing that seems to limit the products that are available is the imagination of the designers creating them. You can get everything from toy dinosaurs and mugs to vehicles and T-shirts, dinosaur claws, and light-up beanies. For gamers, there is a  Jurassic World Evolution game available cross-platform on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Online gamblers can have a rip-roaring time with dinosaurs too when they explore all the new online slots in the UK and find a Jurassic World slot game that has been developed by Microgaming.

Jurassic World Dominion’s plot is said not to follow the traditional screenplay structure with one central character that the action revolves around. The film focuses on two main sets of human characters plus the dinosaurs. There are two parallel storylines that come closer and closer together and which eventually intersect. Meanwhile, we will see the return of the girl who was rescued in Jurassic Dominion who turned out to be a clone. The park’s original geneticist, Dr. Henry Wu, will also continue with the important film role that he has had in the previous Jurassic Park films. The park’s Velociraptor trainer, Barry Sembene played by Omar Sy is part of the storyline in this new film but the theme park’s control room operator, Lowery Caruthers, does not make a reappearance this time.

Judging by the trailer, we can expect to see stunning special effects, animatronics, and CGI. The dinosaurs look incredibly realistic which is not surprising as Edinburgh University paleontologist Steve Brusatte was a consultant on the film. He has been reported as saying that all the creatures are true to prehistory and that there are no hybrid dinosaurs.
