Jumbo-Visma director Zeeman expelled from Tour de France for misconduct | NOW

Merijn Zeeman, sports director of Jumbo-Visma, was put off the course on Thursday after the eighteenth stage of the Tour de France. The Dutchman is accused of misconduct by the Tour organization.

A statement from the organization states that Zeeman let himself go against the jury at the bicycle control after the seventeenth ride on Wednesday. There is talk of intimidation and foul language.

Jumbo-Visma has not yet responded to the exclusion of the 41-year-old Zeeman. The Dutch team will probably come up with a response later on Thursday.

The news from Zeeman is a damper in an otherwise successful Tour for Jumbo-Visma. The formation drives very well and seems to be heading for the overall victory with leader Primoz Roglic.

There are still three stages to go in the 107th edition of the Tour de France. A rolling course awaits the riders on Friday, a climbing time trial will follow on Saturday and the traditional ride to Paris on Sunday.
