July was the hottest in the province since there are records | Radio Leon

Last July was the hottest in the province since there are records, according to data collected by the La Virgen del Camino measurement station. Although the absolute record of 36.5º that occurred on July 19, 1942 was not exceeded, it left the highest average temperature since these measurements were made. And it is that in most of the days the maximums exceeded 30º, remaining stable in a range between this temperature and 35º. From the Noromet association they also explain that the absence of wind added to other meteorological conditions has made the thermal sensation even greater.

The coldest records in the whole country

Paradoxically, the province also recorded the lowest temperatures in the entire country in July. Santiago Parrado de Noromet explains that this is due to the phenomenon of thermal inversion that occurs in the mountain valleys, in which the association has placed several measuring stations. Thus, in Villaceid they reached -2º for several nights, which made it the coldest town in Spain. Some records that were exceeded in the Prado Veneiro station, located in the open field, where they reached -5º
