This Monday, October 25, RTL broadcast the third episode of the Best Pastry Chef on the theme of music. If the theme seems to have won over the participants from the first minutes of the broadcast, no one expected to meet singers, or to be blithely beaten up by one of them …
Pierre Hermé, elected best pastry chef in the world in 2016, came to judge the creations of the candidates, accompanied by Louane and Julien Doré. The singer landed in the midst of a creative test for which Meryl had chosen to make a cake inspired by his title Paris-Seychelles. A shock for the candidate as well as some of her competitors, visibly under the spell of the artist.
While Meryl affectionately called him “Juju”, he stared at her, retorting: “You called me Juju there? Normally there is only my mother who calls me like that ”. The singer did not hesitate to motivate her, in his own way, by asking her to bake the most beautiful cake in the world to represent his song.
Comfortable and full of humor, the latter was also unanimous among viewers. “Julien Doré, he is as funny as it can be. Guillaume the eliminated airline pilot
For the first round, the candidates had two hours to revisit a great classic of pastry: the opera. They then had to make an LP, an incredible cake topped with a tourbillon dressage for the technical test of Mercotte. Finally, in the creative test, the amateurs had for mission to stage the song of their choice, at the heart of a playful and greedy creation.
Our national representative, Alexandre, alias Mich, did not particularly stand out during this third program. After a revisit of the opera deemed “off topic” by Mercotte, the Belgian was however able to climb to third position for the technical record of the LP.
At the end of the evening, it was Guillaume who was eliminated. For her part, Marion took down the blue apron. Next week, the amateur pastry chefs will compete in two teams, the North against the South!

Lavenir.net: This third program on the theme of music seems to have particularly transported you …
Alexandre: It’s true that I love music. Singing, dancing, it’s really something that I love. I especially have a passion for the French variety, so this show was blessed bread for me.
On the other hand, it was not particularly noticed in your preparations. What is your personal assessment of this third program?
It is true that I appeared a little less in this episode. My first cake was deemed off-topic by Mercotte because of a cookie that was too dry, which took my preparation a little too far from the codes of opera. On the other hand, I am very proud to have once again reached the top 3 of the technical event which is definitely my favorite type of event.
It seems that Julien Doré did well in the tent during the tests. Did you know this aspect of the singer?
I’ve heard before that he has a lot of humor and a second-degree, but seeing it with his own eyes is even better. I wasn’t expecting Louane and Julien Doré to come at all, it was really a great surprise! Just like the presence of Pierre Hermé who is obviously a pastry chef that I admire.
Guillaume is the unfortunate eliminated from this third week. According to you, could this candidate have gone further?
Yes, every time. Guillaume was gifted and he was able to demonstrate very beautiful things at the very start of the competition. He was really unlucky for his last trials. We tried to encourage him as best we could, but unfortunately it was not enough. In any case, I wish him the best for the future, she is a very nice person that I was happy to meet!
