Juanes pays tribute to the Grammy-winning Mexican rock band by reliving one of their hits, “Vía Láctea”

MIAMI- Throughout the history of rock there are several covers They have transformed the original pieces into new hymns for music lovers. Today, to that list is added the new version that Juanes has made of Milky Way, original theme of the Mexican rock band Zoe.

The theme is included in the new album of the Colombian star, Reversiones, where a constellation of Latin stars joined their talents to pay tribute to the Mexican combo and its impeccable career.

Juanes takes Zoé’s classic and covers it with her own distinctive stamp: a lilting, semi-funk rhythm, to which is added her characteristic vocal phrasing full of flavor, in order to recreate the verses as an exercise in dance and sensuality.
“A few months ago the management of ZOE contacted me to invite me to participate and when I heard the idea I immediately said yes, because Zoé is a very important band for Latin American music. I would say that thank God they are there; Soda Stereo is not there But there is Zoé, there is Café Tacuba, which are very important bands. And when I heard several options that they sent me, Milky Way connected me more in itself by the song, the lyrics, the melody. My approach to the song was free. I re-interpreted the song as if it were mine; I picked up the chords and began to sing it as if it were my song, I began to imagine it more or less, obviously, having references from their MTV Unplugged album and their original album. A trumpet solo is heard in the middle of the song before the final appearance of the chorus. Juanes managed to reconstruct the emotional structure of an already endearing song.
