Juancho Hernangómez leaves San Antonio to join the ranks of Utah Jazz

Just three weeks after arriving at the San Antonio Spurs, Spaniard Juancho Hernangómez he’ll pack his bags again to land at the Utah Jazz as part of a tri-band operation which also includes the Portland Trail Blazers, ESPN reported Wednesday.

The same source detailed that the Jazz will keep Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Juancho Hernangómez, the Spurs will receive Tomas Satoransky and a second round draft, and the Blazers will get Joe Ingles (injured for the remainder of the season), Elijah Hughes and a second round draft.

This operation, not yet officially confirmed by the three teams involved, has been announced 24 hours before market closes NBA transfers.

The Jazz are one of the great aspirants in the West, currently occupy the fourth position (33-21) and have as main references Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert and Mike Conley.

Hernangómez arrived in mid-January for the Spurs, from the Boston Celtics, and has had a testimonial presence in the San Antonio franchise. The Spaniard has played in five games averaging 1.4 points, 3 rebounds and 0.6 assists in 10.1 minutes on average per game.

Previously, Hernangómez, 26, had counted on very few opportunities in the Celtics since he arrived in Boston last summer. In the historic Boston franchise he averaged 1.1 points, 1.4 rebounds and 0.2 assists in 5.3 minutes per game.

Elected in the 15th place in the 2016 draft, the Jazz will be the fifth team to Hernangómez after Denver Nuggets (2016-2020), Minnesota Timberwolves (2020-2021), Boston Celtics (2021-2022) and San Antonio Spurs (2022), after a brief stint last summer by the Memphis Grizzlies, that is not their debut.
