Surprise during this qualifying race with the pole position of José María López on Cool Racing #47! We expected to see Paul-Loup Chatin in front but he couldn’t beat the time of 1’44″253 set by the Toyota driver. Job Van Uitert is third on Panis Racing, 0″347s from pole.

The session was quickly stopped at the red flag due to a mechanical problem suffered by Olivier Jarvis on the United #22 which had to stop on the track in turn 13. After one of the circuit’s famous quads had cleared the Oreca, the session got off to a flying start with all the cars leaving at the same time.

In LMP2 Pro/Am, no surprise with Salih Yoluc who took pole rather easily in 1’46″178 with 0″830 ahead of Giorgio Roda. The Turkish driver has been well above the rest since the beginning of the year for his second season in LMP2. Jim McGuire finished last in the session on United #23 but it was better than usual as he finished 5″2 from pole when he is usually positioned 7 or 8 seconds off the times .

In LMP3, the top 3 was decided in 0″082! It was the experienced Colombian driver Oscar Tunjo who took pole in 1’51″267. The ex-GP3 driver set the pole time in the final moments while Glen Van Berlo on the Eurointernational led this session. Only 0.059s separates the two men, which means that the show will be present in this category tomorrow.

In GTE, only 0″4 separates the time from pole and seventh place. It was Christian Ried, on the #77 Proton Competition Porsche, with a 1’56″260 who placed at the top of the sheet times with 0″147 ahead of Duncan Cameron in the Ferrari 296 GT3 #55. The Proton team managed this qualifying well by putting on new tires a little later than the others since Michaël Fassbender achieved his best qualifying by finishing has a very good third position.

The American actor is progressing from year to year. After having had a logically somewhat complicated start, he shows that he is capable of playing the leading roles against more experienced pilots. Arnold Robin took fifth place in the #77 TF Sport Aston Martin.
