Flamengo announced Jorge Sampaoli as the new coach.
The 63-year-old Argentine is Vítor Pereira’s successor and signs a contract until December 2024.
With this announcement, the return of Jorge Jesus to the club from Rio de Janeiro is ruled out. The Portuguese contract with Fenerbahçe ends in May, unlike Sampaoli, who was a free coach since last March he was fired from Sevilla.
Sampaoli has guided Santos (2019) and Atlético Mineiro (2020) in Brazilian football. In addition to Sevilla, on two occasions, the former coach of Argentina and Chile also recently coached Marseille.
