FAJAR.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Gerindra politician Arief Poyuono suspects that President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is testing the loyalty of the coalition parties supporting the government through the discourse on extending the term of office of the head of state and postponing the 2024 election.
The politician who is also a labor activist conveyed his suspicions after President Jokowi asked his ministers to stop talking about the issue.
“The discourse on three terms, extension of office, and postponement of elections seems to be just a test on the water to ensure the loyalty of the coalition political parties to Kangmas Jokowi,” said Arief via message service to JPNN.com, Friday (8/4).
The result, said the former deputy chairman of the Gerindra Party, is that the political parties loyal or unfaithful to the Seventh President of the Republic of Indonesia have been read.
Arief also said that the issue of loyalty to the government coalition political parties is related to Jokowi’s position as head of state
“This concerns Jokowi’s position whether until 2024 or not,” Arief continued.
Through the issue of Jokowi’s 3 terms, the extension of the presidential term, and the postponement of the election, said Arief, the former governor of DKI can be seen which political parties are truly loyal to Iriana’s husband.
“From here, the coalition political parties that are loyal to guard Jokowi until the end of his term of office until 2024 are clear, namely PKB and Golkar, while others can be said to be less loyal,” he said.
Arief assessed that political parties other than PKB and Golkar did not dare to support the discourse of postponing the election or extending the presidential term.
