Jokowi asks to buy electric cars for officials from the state budget

GIACARTA, KOMPAS.com – Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investments Luhut Binsar Panjaitan says, buy electric machine for officials it will be budgeted from the state budget. Luhut said this received approval from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

“So the President has ordered that the APBN be used for purchases electric vehicle. Which electric vehicle (EV) starts this year, (budget) is even bigger next year, “Luhut told Sarinah Thamrin, Jakarta on Tuesday (9/27/2022).

Luhut said his party is currently preparing a plan to buy the electric car. Therefore, he aims to ensure that by 2035 there will be no more four-wheeled vehicles in use combustion engine.

“We are making plans and we hope that perhaps in 2035 there will be no more” mobile combustion produced internally. We will all use electric vehicles and in this way we will reduce imports raw oil because its use is reduced, ”continued Luhut.

Luhut said officials have now gradually begun to switch to electric vehicles. He also said he already owns an electric car, although he still uses his own Jeep right now.

“Now it has started gradually (the use of electric cars). I have started using an electric car, yes. But (right now) I still use my personal Jeep, soon I will have to use an electric vehicle too,” he added.

Luhut said that currently the problem with using electric cars is the problem chip. Take, for example, electric vehicle manufacturer Hyundai, which currently has no components chip for electric vehicles.

“Now there is a problem, it turns out chip even making an electric car is difficult. Hyundai is also missing and buyers have to queue up to 1.5 years. This is proof that the demand for electric cars is very high. As for the battery, it doesn’t matter, “Luhut said.
