John Lawton’s family and friends scattered his dust on Stone Beach, where from 2007 to 2015 hundreds welcomed the first July sunrise with Uriah Heep’s song – July Morning, said the former mayor of Kavarna and a friend of the rock legend on his Facebook page.
By the rocks, about 10 meters from the Eternal Flame, the ritual was performed by the singer’s wife – Iris Lawton, and his two children – Natalie and Patrick.
“John loved Bulgaria and remains forever in our hearts,” reads a publication by Kmetal.
Not far from the place, in memory of the Briton, are two benches. On one of them is mounted a tile brought from England by his wife, which says that he played on Kamen Bryag for years, Tsonev told BTA.

“Iris wanted to scatter his dust back in September, but on the 7th they closed Bulgaria because of the pandemic,” Tsonev explained, adding that the musician’s family arrived yesterday to fulfill his last wish.
Among those present were also musicians from B.T.R. and the mayor of Tutrakan, Dr. Dimitar Stefanov, whom Iris has specially invited, as between 2016 and 2019 Lawton welcomed July 1 in the Danube city.
