For more than a year, John de Mol has been at odds with Gossip Talk. Today the judge will rule in the case between the media magnate and the presentation duo Jan Roos and Dennis Schouten. What is their disagreement about? NU.nl lists the events.
Gossip Talkpresenters Dennis Schouten and Jan Roos will make accusations against John de Mol in April 2022. The media magnate would have paid people not to testify against his son. At the time, Johnny de Mol was involved in a much-discussed assault case with his ex Shima Kaes.
De Mol says that the allegations are not correct and is taking action. He not only demands a rectification, but also an amount of 10,000 euros. That money must be transferred to Stichting Het Forgeten Kind.
Gossip Talk complies with the first requirement, but not the second. They remove all statements about De Mol from their video and post a correction. But they refuse to transfer money. “We are not going to cooperate in a ‘look at what we are good’ moment of this family”, write Schouten and Roos.
De Mol therefore starts proceedings on the merits. He is now demanding 55,000 euros, or 27,500 euros per presenter. Roos and Schouten in turn demand compensation for reputational damage.
The creators of Gossip Talk are more often involved in lawsuits, such as with Famke Louise. In 2022, the presentation duo easily raised 27,000 euros through crowdfunding to pay for their own lawyer’s fees and those of the singer. Roos then said that he would put the money that remained “in the war chest” for the next case.
