Into the intimate Lugnet stadium in Falun, Johaug sailed in for his 82nd victory in the World Cup and his very last in an individual race.
– Now I start laughing again. It’s amazing. But I went to think about it out on the trail here: This is “nonsense”. That I will give up now. I know it’s the right thing to do, but it’s horrible and sad, says Johaug to TV 3.
As the last starter, Sunday’s 10 kilometer for a parade march was to be counted for the ski queen.
After being a few small seconds behind the Swedish star shot Jonna Sundling on the first two passing points, Johaug turned around and outclassed the competitors.
At 4.3 kilometers, it separated 14 seconds down to the nearest pursuer. Two kilometers later, the hatch was 17 seconds.

–Then the clock made a leap and at 7.7 kilometers the 33-year-old led by a full 30 seconds. With 900 meters left, the hatch had increased by another five seconds.
In the race she could take the time to greet everything and everyone, but Johaug stormed to the finish, 36 seconds ahead of Jonna Sundling who came second and Jessica Diggins who came third.

– I think it’s a lot of fun, and it gives me a lot, but I have a very good feeling when I give up now. With the fact that I have achieved what I have done and in a way ended the season as I have done, says a moved Johaug.
Her first victory in the World Cup came on a stage in the 2009 edition of the Tour de Ski. In total, she has won the World Cup three times, the same with the Tour de Ski. In the Olympics and the World Cup, there have been a total of 25 medals. 18 of them gold.
– I’ve been in the game for a long time. I started when I was very young, compared to maybe many others. So therefore you also feel that you have experienced an insane amount. I have been incredibly lucky to have been able to do what I enjoy best, says Johaug to TV 3.
