Afterward, Derksen received a lot of angry backlash. He now thinks back to his revelation.

In a double interview with The Soldier, the Dutch Johan Derksen and John de Bever talk about their friendship. Also about their band when Johan was targeted last spring due to the candle incident. His friend John reportedly pulled it off.
Derksen is very grateful for this, he tells Privé. “I’m glad I don’t have to sleep with him, you know. But John is very dear to me. You should know that I have lost many friends to the spark plug incident. People I thought we had a very special bond with, but who just didn’t get in touch anymore. I was terribly disappointed with it. John has been behind me from the first minute.
Confession
Derksen spoke up on the matter at the time to indicate that allegations of sexual misconduct by men sometimes relate to events from a long time ago, but that, according to him, it was a different time back then. He said that in the current climate he looks at the event fifty years ago differently.
Countless viewers, including well-known Dutch people, reacted indignantly to Derksen’s statements after the broadcast. It’s not an innocent juvenile sin, but a woman’s rape confession is consent. The jokes Derksen made during the program with René van der Gijp and table host Steven Brunswijk, for example about the size of the candle, make it even more painful, according to them.
