The US leader made the announcement via social networks on Saturday.
One of Joe Biden’s dogs, Champ, is dead, the US president said in a statement posted on Saturday. The German Shepherd was adopted thirteen years ago by the ruler’s family.
“He was our loyal, cherished companion for the past thirteen years and was adored by the entire Biden family,” the statement continued.
The canine was adopted in 2008.
A 2nd German Shepherd adopted in 2018
The presidential couple formed by Joe and Jill Biden had taken in a second German Shepherd, Major, in 2018, who came from a refuge.
The two dogs had made their entry last January at the White House alongside their masters.
For American presidents, owning a dog seems to be part of a long tradition, with which Joe Biden had revived, since his predecessor in Washington, Donald Trump, had departed from this habit.
