Jobs are now being sought well in the Czech Republic

Even in warehouses and logistics centers, which are constantly growing rapidly in our country, the share of automation is growing. However, it requires not only qualified programmers, but also operators. And thousands of workers and craftsmen are still missing.

“Queues at labor offices are definitely not being formed. The number of unemployed is declining in the short and long term. In December, labor offices reported 344,840 vacancies. Even winter will not bring a sharp increase in the unemployment rate, “said economist Markéta Šichtařová.

Low fluctuation
According to a Grafton Recruitment survey, fluctuations in some industries are declining. People often just think about changing jobs.
In IT, only a tenth of employees would take advantage of interesting offers if they came.
Workers from sales and marketing (22 percent) or business services (30 percent) occasionally look for a little more after a new job, most of all from production, where a quarter of employees are actively looking for work.
Another 37 percent would take advantage of a good offer if it came to them.

For example, there is virtually no unemployment in IT. Nearly 90 percent of IT professionals surveyed are not looking for work, and those looking for another position do so because of the prospect of better earnings or having more free time. This follows from a survey by No Fluff Jobs, which was attended by almost 800 Czechs in the field of IT.

At the same time, Czech IT experts are among the best paid in the industry in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. One third of them earn more than 67,000 a month.

Robots don’t push people

The solution to the shortage of people in operations is just a greater rise in automation, which, however, increases the demand for IT specialists. In a survey conducted by the consulting company PwC among the CEOs of Czech companies, 92 percent said that the closures of economies forced them to use more digital tools. And 77 percent of Czech companies say they have introduced new technologies.

Digitization in the coming years will also lead to a major transformation of the labor market in the world. PwC estimates that up to a third of jobs will disappear or change dramatically in the next decade. Half of the processes can be automated using current technologies.

“It does not mean that digitalisation will increase unemployment. People will continue to be the greatest asset of any company, their potential can be used for more specialized activities. However, digitization is an absolute necessity for companies to survive at all, “summed up PwC partner Olga Cilečková.

Hands, you are appreciated

At the same time, experts agree that the lack of people, especially in manual occupations, is not just a matter of a few months, the shortage of workers will persist for a longer period. Companies will thus compete in the search for new people, offer new benefits, and there is a growing interest in retraining courses.

The growing interest of older workers in retraining, for example in flooring and tiling of Práva, was also confirmed by the management of the Jarov Secondary Vocational School in Prague. No wonder. According to the Nejřemeslníci.cz portal, the Czech Republic lacks up to 300,000 trained workers. This also corresponds to the estimates of the Czech Chamber of Commerce.

One-fifth of all officially announced vacancies at labor offices are intended for craftsmen and repairers. At the same time, employers fail to fill almost 26,000 of these positions in a year.

Employers are most in demand for masons, stoves, tilers and drywall fitters (plasterers), welders, flame cutters and soldering irons, toolmakers, craftsmen and skilled workers in the main construction industry, adjusters and machine tool operators. According to statistical reports, mechanics, electromechanics, fitters and painters officially earn around 40,000 gross per month.
