JOB urges residents to be willing to take an HIV/AIDS test as soon as possible

Bandarlampung (ANTARA) – The Empowered PLWHA Network Community (JOB) calls on members of the public to be willing to take early HIV/AIDS tests, especially those at high risk, so they can be managed more quickly.

“People are still afraid to test for HIV/AIDS. Therefore, the results of these tests will not be published and will only be given to interested parties. This is a way to protect the psychology of people infected with HIV/AIDS,” said JOB president Elvina Harahap. , in Bandarlampung, on Tuesday.

In commemoration of World AIDS Day 2022, Elvina also asked those at high risk not to be afraid to check themselves first, because treatment for HIV/AIDS already exists. Even if he doesn’t make a full recovery, the life expectancy to be longer is open.

He explained that by taking drugs regularly and regularly, people infected with HIV/AIDS can live properly as they should.

“Our goal is that HIV cases in Lampung province can be reduced and the rate of spread suppressed,” he said.

His party will continue to call on the community and students to be able to fight the spread of HIV/AIDS cases in Lampung province by providing guidance, socialization and counseling from the university level to the villages.

For 2022, the number of HIV/AIDS infected cases is over 5,300 people and this number can still increase if the government is willing to conduct random sampling tests on the general public.

“With the Global Fun grant, this has to be put to good use, because this is the impetus for HIV/AIDS prevention to get government subsidies and also Global Fun to manage it,” he said.

Indonesian government and World Health Organization (WHO) predict no more cases of infection in 2030

“We hope that by 2030 we can all be free from the spread of HIV/AIDS and can suppress the spread of the disease,” he said.

HIV is still a scary specter for some people. Lack of HIV education and understanding means that people living with HIV and AIDS (PLWHA) often receive discriminatory treatment. Indeed, the transmission of HIV is not as easy as many people think.
