Jitske Van de Veire (28) has responded to the cassant to a sickening reaction to a photo she recently sent out into the world, in which she poses half naked. “Jung material for daddy”, it reads under the post. It goes a long way, says Van de Veire. “I have become used to the kilos of dung that I already got over the past few years. But keep it fucking clean,” she responds.

More than just the daughter of radio presenter Peter Van de Veire, Jitske is a figurehead in Flanders bodypositivityor that you can be proud of your body. That every body is beautiful, in all its sizes and weights. On Instagram she often shares half-exposed photos, which leave little to the imagination. She wants to show her followers that everyone looks different. And that we do not all meet the beauty ideals set by society, and that that is okay. Unfortunately, Jitske encounters hate reactions much more often than she would like.

Eveline scandal

At the beginning of this month, Jitske posted two lingerie photos on her Instagram with which she wants to show that social media gives a distorted picture of reality. “Jerk material for daddy”, someone responded, an unmistakable swipe at the Eveline scandal with which Peter Van de Veire was discredited a year and a half ago.

Now she stands up for her father and makes it clear that she no longer tolerates such misplaced reactions. “Troll all you want, but keep it clean. The kilos of dung that I already got over me in recent years I have become used to. As bad as that really is. But: Hold. It. Fucking. Proper.”

She also points out to her followers the consequences that such hateful statements can have and calls on them to refrain from disgraceful comments. “Do you realize that you make people feel very unsafe with these kinds of reactions? That you throw people out of their daily balance? That people keep walking with that and have to work and laugh and keep going while something like this is buzzing? Little Flanders: get your shit togetherfocus on yourself and spend time doing things that are worth instead of smashing people you don’t know.”
