Member of Commission IX DPR RI Rahmad Handoyo assessed Job Loss Guarantee (PUC) cannot be an alternative to Old Age Security (JHT) BPJS of Employment. As is well known, the Ministry of Manpower (Ministry of Manpower), issued a new regulation that JHT can only be disbursed when the employee is 56 years old, permanently disabled, or dies.
“I don’t think it can be a substitute, it’s as if this program replaces JHT. It can’t. The process has to register again, right. I think this must be considered carefully,” said Rahmad when contacted CNNIndonesia.comSaturday (12/2).
The new policy from the Ministry of Manpower which states that JHT funds can only be disbursed when the employee is 56 years old has sparked a polemic in the community. A number of parties reject this rule, because it will burden employees who have just lost their jobs.
Regarding this, the Special Staff of the Minister of Manpower Dita Indah Sari said for worker participants who want to withdraw program funds when they lose their jobs, the government through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan offers a new program, namely Job Loss Guarantee (JKP).
Rahmad considers JKP and JHT to be different programs. Therefore, he said it would be unwise for the government to compare JKP with JHT.
“JHT has good intentions in order to improve welfare, but when compared with JKP it is not wise, because the program is different,” he explained.
“Especially for JHT, I think the middle way is because it belongs to workers, people who contribute through workers are given flexibility. Those who want to continue are welcome, those who stop are given convenience,” he continued.
The PDI-P politician suspected that the government might have good intentions by implementing the regulation. However, according to him, this condition cannot be applied in Indonesia.
“Although the intention is good in order to improve welfare, but how to improve welfare, it is difficult to eat tomorrow, so JHT can be an alternative to be disbursed to make a living. We need to think about this,” said Rahmad.
Previously, the Minister of Manpower (Menaker) Ida Fauziyah issued Permenaker Number 2 of 2022 concerning Procedures and Requirements for Payment of Old Age Security Benefits (JHT). In the latest regulations, JHT can be taken when entering retirement age or 56 years. Another requirement is that the JHT participant worker dies or is permanently disabled.
The issuance of the regulation sparked a polemic. Not a few people have asked, even protested the JHT disbursement system after the government made changes to the rules.
