Jerinx Sentenced to 1 Year in Prison for Threatening against Adam Deni

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Musician Jerinx sentenced to one year in prison for threatening social media activist Adam Deni.

The verdict was read out by the presiding judge Surachmat in the Kusuma Atmadja 4 room at the Central Jakarta District Court, Thursday (11/24/2022).

“The punishment that should be handed down to the defendant is imprisonment. On trial, it is stated that the defendant Jerinx has been legally and convincingly proven to have committed a crime intentionally and without rights, as in the first indictment,” said presiding judge Surachmat when reading Jerinx’s verdict.

“The sentence against Jerinx with imprisonment for 1 year, pay a fine of Rp. 25 million rupiah subsidiary 1 month in prison,” said the presiding judge.

“The time of the defendant’s sentence that the defendant has served is reduced entirely from the sentence imposed,” the chief judge continued.

The verdict is lighter than the demands of the Public Prosecutor (JPU).

Previously, Prosecutor I Gede Eka Hariana demanded that the defendant Jerinx be sentenced to 2 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 50 million, subsidiary to 2 months in prison.

Meanwhile, in his defense memorandum, Jerinx read out 7 points in the hope of being free soon.

In the trial verdict of his case, Jerinx was accompanied by his wife, Nora Alexandra.

Nora looked tough as she listened to Jerinx’s verdict.

When the sentence “one year in prison” came out of the mouth of the judge, Nora looked down for a moment.

Jerinx was convicted of violating Article 27 Paragraph 4 in conjunction with Article 45 Paragraph 4 or Article 29 in conjunction with Article 45B of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning electronic information and transactions.
