Jeitawi University Hospital in Lebanon held a medical conference on patient safety with international speakers.

The Lebanese Jeitawi University Hospital organized a medical conference on “Patient Safety in Hospitals”, and indicated in a statement that “As usual since 2016, despite the current difficult conditions that afflict the hospital sector, believing in the need to adhere to the highest levels of quality and safety in health services, we organized This conference with the participation of eight specialists in the field, including three international specialists from the United States and France.The conference attracted more than 300 participants including hospital managers, doctors, nurses, officials in charge of quality and patient safety departments, and health researchers from more than 50 health institutions and University in Lebanon.

The topics of the conference centered on “patient safety in hospitals and the latest methods to avoid medical and nursing errors, taking into account the latest findings of scientific expertise and studies in this field.

Especially since medical errors are among the most important causes of death in the world, even in developed countries such as the United States, European countries, the United Kingdom and Canada, and most of them can be avoided by following scientifically proven preventive measures.

There was also a critical reading of the efforts made for more than two decades and their results in reducing the number of errors, especially in light of the economic and social changes that resulted from the Corona pandemic.

The statement indicated that “the most prominent topics of the lectures dealt with diagnostic errors, communication errors, low value safety practices, avoidable surgical complications, and preventable surgical adverse events.” Maternal and newborn safety.The experience of the Lebanese Jeitawi Hospital in introducing patient safety topics into the training curriculum for medical students affiliated to the Lebanese University was also presented.The new global revolution with the use of artificial intelligence in medicine was also highlighted, without forgetting The role of the patient and his interaction with the measures taken in improving the level of safety of care.
