The SUV Jeep Avenger is the “Car of the Year 2023 in Europe”, the first model with zero emissions from Jeep, dethroning models such as Nissan Ariya, Kia Niro or Volkswagen ID. 4. Following judging, Avenger scored a total of 328 points. The announcement was made at the Brussels Auto Show, which opened its doors starting yesterday.
“European Car of the Year” is already a renowned competition in the automotive industry on the Old Continent, the first edition being organized more than half a century ago, in 1964. At that time, the competition was won by the Rover 2000 The first electric model to win this top was Nissan Leafwhich won the title for “European Car of the Year” in 2011. Since then, Jaguar I-Pace won in 2019, and Kia EV6 in 2022.
The jury was formed this year by 57 automotive journalists from the most important publications in Europe, according to Engine1. Normally, the jury consists of 61 specialists, but at this edition four journalists from Russia were absent.

As I said in the previous lines, Jeep Avenger achieved a total score of 328 points and ranked first in the list this year, becoming “European Car of the Year”. In second place was the Volkswagen ID. 4, with 241 points, while the last step of the podium was occupied by the Nissan Ariya, with a total of 211 points.
Further, the Kia Niro came very close to grabbing the podium, finishing just 11 points short of the Ariya. 5th place was occupied by Renault Australand the 6th place was occupied by the Peugeot 408. Finally, the 7th place was occupied by the Toyota bZ4X / Subaru Solterra models.
