Jean Petit, legend of AS Monaco, has died

Legend of AS Monaco, Jean Petit died at the age of 74, this Tuesday, January 23, announced the Monegasque club. On its website, the club writes “AS Monaco was immensely saddened to learn of the death of Jean Petit, former player and coach, legend among the legends of AS Monaco.”

Born in Toulouse, Jean Petit spent his entire career in Monaco. He was “one of the best players in the history of the club, titled on numerous occasions: champion in 1978 and 1982, winner of the Coupe de France in 1980”, underlines the club. Having played in the 78 World Cup with the Blues, he is voted best player that year by France Football.

After his playing career, Jean Petit then held numerous positions within the club: recruiter for the training center, for the pro team, member of the technical staff, video analyst, assistant, interim head coach and advisor to the president. Jean Petit will thus become the faithful deputy of Arsène Wenger, Jean Tigana, Claude Puel, Didier Deschamps, Ricardo and Marco Simone.
